Last checked Oct. 5, 2026. This page is updated each year. The Dunwoody Homeowners Association has not yet announced details for the 2027 parade, so the route and times below describe the 2026 parade, from the association’s Fourth of July parade page.
Dunwoody celebrates Independence Day with a morning parade, not a fireworks show. The Dunwoody 4th of July Parade, presented by the Dunwoody Homeowners Association and Rough Draft Atlanta, bills itself as Georgia’s largest Independence Day parade. 2026 was its 50th year. July 4, 2027, falls on a Sunday.

- Parade questions: the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, through its parade page
- Road closures and traffic on the day: Dunwoody Police Department main line, 678-382-6900
- Fireworks complaints: call 911. The department says ChatComm 911 handles all Dunwoody police dispatch, emergency or not, and asks for ordinance violations to be reported to 911 as they happen.

How the 2026 parade ran
- Step-off: 9 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Mount Vernon Road and Jett Ferry Road.
- Route: about 2.7 miles, west on Mount Vernon Road to Dunwoody Village, right onto Dunwoody Village Parkway, around the Parkway and left into Dunwoody Village between First Watch and Citizens Bank. The organizers say it takes about an hour to walk the whole route.
- Finish: closing ceremonies in Dunwoody Village end around 1 p.m.
- After the parade: a festival with food in front of the U.S. Post Office in Dunwoody Village, on the Walgreens side.
- Grand marshal: the Dunwoody Preservation Trust.
The association’s history of the parade says it has about 150 marching units and more than 2,000 people in decorated cars, on floats or on foot, with about 25,000 spectators. The modern parade began in 1976, for the nation’s Bicentennial, organized by members of the Dunwoody Woman’s Club.
Where to watch, and road closures
Spectators set up chairs along Mount Vernon Road and around Dunwoody Village Parkway. Viewing starts on the west side of Jett Ferry Road; the east side is closed to spectators for parade staging.
Mount Vernon Road between Jett Ferry Road and Dunwoody Village closed from about 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in 2026. The association says the times are approximate and asks drivers to call the Dunwoody Police Department with traffic questions.
If it rains
The association says it will not cancel the night before and will set up even in drizzle. Dunwoody police decide on any delay and make the call at 9 a.m. if an electrical storm makes it unsafe. Updates go out on the association’s Facebook page.
